Liverpool listed as Champions League winners by UEFA
It looks like congratulations are in order for Liverpool Football Club, who appear to have wrapped up their sixth Champions League title without even having to play the final.
As per the Liverpool updated tournament fixture list on UEFA’s official website, the Reds have seemingly been given a goodbye against Real Madrid in the final to be automatically crowned champions of Europe once again. Up above the semifinal results at the very top of the page, UEFA have erroneously declared Jurgen Klopp’s side to be overall winners of the 2017-18 competition.
Which, in fairness, seems a little harsh on Real. After all, were they really that unconvincing over two legs against Bayern Munich in the previous round?
All in all, it’s Liverpool just a bit of a shame that we won’t be getting a Champions League final this year.
We were really quite looking forward too watching it.
To help prepare for the World Cup, the Brazilian national team have set up a training camp high up in the mountains above Rio de Janeiro.
However, with the Granja Comary training centre being some 800 metres above the city with just a narrow winding road connecting the two, the Brazilian football federation have laid on some rather lavish transport for their players.
Neymar, Douglas Costa,Liverpool Thiago Silva and Philippe Coutinho have all been spotted being helicoptered directly into the town of Teresopolis, mere metres from the door of the team’s temporary headquarters.
“I suggested this Liverpool idea taking to consideration that it’s important for the players to be here as soon as possible,” explained Edu, former Arsenal midfielder and now general coordinator of the Brazilian national team.
“Many players come from smaller cities and need to go to a bigger city too. [For some] it takes more than 17 hours to get here.”
